Mindfully Practicing Since 2015

In 2015, Elsie Brotherton was searching for a yoga studio she couldn’t find: one with consistently powerful hot yoga, classes offered at convenient times, thoughtfully designed spaces, inspiring music, and a reliably rewarding experience—no matter when she practiced or who was teaching.

She decided it was time to bring her vision to life and, in February 2015, open Highland Yoga's first location in Atlanta's Virginia Highlands neighborhood.

What began with our signature hot power flow has grown into something bigger: a complete approach to movement and well-being. Alongside the yoga classes that built our community, our lineup now includes strength-focused formats like HY Burn and HY Power Sculpt—giving members more ways to build strength, improve mobility, regulate their nervous systems, and feel their best, all in one place.

Today, Highland Yoga has grown to nine locations across metro Atlanta, Alpharetta, Athens, and Nashville. Through exceptional instruction, intentional studio design, and meaningful community, we’ve created spaces where movement feels powerful, personal, and deeply inspiring.

We believe everyone deserves an incredible experience—every class, every day. Whether you come to flow, lift, sweat, reset, or connect, Highland Yoga is a place to become stronger in every sense of the word. It’s a community that feels like family and a studio that feels like home.

Elsie Brotherton,

Founder & CEO

Elsie discovered yoga in 2010 while searching for a way to manage the intensity of law school. What began as a personal outlet quickly became something more: a practice that made her feel stronger, more grounded, and more connected to herself.

After beginning her career as an attorney, Elsie completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013. Two years later, she took the leap from practicing law to opening Highland Yoga—creating the powerful, consistent, community-driven studio experience she had been searching for herself.

Today, Elsie leads Highland Yoga with the same conviction that inspired its beginning: movement can transform how people feel, both inside and outside the studio. Her love of power vinyasa, strength training, thoughtful team-building, and genuine human connection continues to shape Highland Yoga’s classes, culture, and evolution.
