ABOUT US

Highland Yoga is a community focused, Atlanta-based studio with locations in Virginia Highlands, Grant Park, and Buckhead. 

 

We opened the doors to our flagship Virginia Highlands location in 2015 with humble beginnings when our owner and lead teacher, Elsie, had a dream of turning her passion for yoga into a sacred space where people could unplug from their day and have an hour to breathe. She was practicing law at the time, and after long stressful days at the office found herself craving a combination of physically intense asana that truly connected her body and mind. In 2015, she and her husband, John, decided to open a studio and share her vision with the community - and the rest is history. Though Highland Yoga has now grown to three locations, Elsie's own transformative journey still serves as the inspiration for our unique style and continuously guides the vision for the studio.

 

Highland Yoga's classes are powerful and unique, combining vigorous flow, creative sequencing, and mindfulness practices - all with a focus on true breath to movement style vinyasa. This helps our students develop a mind, body, and spirit connection and empowers them to find their strongest selves and live bigger. Even if it's just for one hour, your time at Highland Yoga will help clear your mind and build a strength from inside out that you can take with you and transform your life off the mat. We believe that good things come to those who sweat, which is why our studios are heated to 93 degrees. 

 

What makes Highland Yoga extra special? Our community! Our students are our number one priority, and we want our studios to feel like your home away from home where you can step away from your busy life, become completely immersed in the present moment, and connect to yourself on a deeper level. Our teachers will encourage you to explore your limits while honoring your body and using your breath as your guide. Our goal, above all, is to help you find mental clarity, calm, and peace.

 

Your time on your mat is for you, and we understand how important that is. Our spaces are designed to welcome you the moment you step through our doors. With organic, thoughtful touches, we like to think of our studios as urban retreats. To make your experience easy, Highland Yoga offers a number of amenities, including complimentary towel service and Manduka PROlite studio mats. At Highland Yoga, we aim to create a safe space for exploration of the body and mind suitable for students at all skill levels. Our teachers are dedicated to bringing their extensive training and knowledge about the practice to each  class. You don’t have to be flexible, strong, balanced, or even  focused to try one of our classes—just show up! We will teach you the rest.

GRANT PARK

Our Grant Park studio is known as our "yoga tree house"! Located in Atlanta's historic Grant Park neighborhood a few blocks west of Zoo Atlanta.

OUR CLASSES

HY POWER FLOW - ALL LEVELS
Our one hour Vinyasa flow class is suitable for new and experienced practitioners alike! Designed to provide a total body workout, this class combines elements of power, strengthening and deep stretch. Our studio is heated to 93 degrees to create the optimal environment for your body to open up without being uncomfortably hot. You will sweat, shake and smile through flowing sequences that are guaranteed to leave your mind and body feeling refreshed.

HEATED FOUNDATIONAL FLOW

Slower paced than our HY Power Flow, Heated Foundational Flow is perfect for beginners or  students seeking to learn more about alignment in their yoga poses. Room is heated to 93 degrees.
 

WARM DEEP STRETCH + RESTORE
Yin yoga is a wonderful counterbalance to any fitness routine. It is a practice that facilitates deep release of the physical, energetic, mental, and emotional effects of everyday stresses. Think of it as a reboot. Just as more active (yang) exercise practices help build strength and flexibility in the muscles, Yin Yoga helps build strength and flexibility in the body’s connective tissue through gentle, long-held postures during which the focus is placed on the breath. This healing practice is perfect for new and experienced yogis, as well as athletes wishing to benefit from faster muscle recovery and increased range of motion. Highland Yoga's Yin/Restorative class combines the deep stretch of Yin with more restorative and relaxing postures to help you wind down and release tension in your body.
